TIA has attracted experienced staff with a broad understanding of translational health research. Together with the Board and advisory committees, the TIA team will support researchers, facility managers, governments and businesses through addressing current and emerging issues facing translational research in Australia.
Dr Stuart Newman
Chief Executive Officer
Dr Stuart Newman has varied experience in the Government and Higher Education sectors including research funding, infrastructure support and commercialisation. With a PhD in Antarctic Biology, Stuart has areas as diverse as the life sciences, food safety, air quality and marine biology. Stuart joins TIA from Griffith University, where he led the Research Development team in the central research office. Stuart has previously worked for TIA in the role of Queensland Development Manager, where he assisted the development of TIA's Queensland Node, and also played a key role in establishing the iQDOCs and ATRAX resources.

Scientific Advisor / Chair of the Australian Therapeutic Pipeline
Stella runs her own business Stella Connect P/L, helping people, organisations and their ideas connect to maximise productive outcomes. Previously she has been CEO of the Bio21 Cluster and Obesity Australia. Stella spent nearly 20 years in research and is listed on the NHMRC website “High Achievers in Australian Health and Medical Research”. She is currently on the Boards of The Bionics Institute, the Victorian Cancer Biobank, the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre Trust and the Melbourne Boston Sister City Association. Stella is a Past President of ASMR and the Australasian Research Management Society.
